This post’s title is dedicated to my probability professor, Professor de Veciana. You’ll find out why later.
To prepare for Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, I prepared a brochure which I sent off to Professor Hallock. Since his MacBook Pro couldn’t do duplex, we had to print them the classical way: While I stand next to the printer in the faculty room, I make sure we put in the paper correctly and call him to tell him to print. As I was doing that, my probability professor came in. It so happened that he is here to copy the midterm we’re going to take Tuesday. Without looking at the test, I stepped out, closed the door, and waited for him to finish. In a University of 50,000 people, the probability of such awkward student-faculty encounters approaches nil.
